I surrendered my life to the Lord at a youth conference in 2002 after realizing how far I had drifted from Christ, and how He had a plan for my life. In January of 2003, Missionary Doug Kalaap came to our church and after his message on missions, I walked the aisle during the invitation and surrendered to go to the mission field. I enrolled as a freshman at Hyles-Anderson College in the fall of 2003. There I met my wife, Lacey Young, and married the girl of my dreams on May 10, 2008.
We then took off on full-time deputation in August of that year and completed our support by December 2009. In June 2010, we left with a team of missionaries to go to the Philippines. The Lord allowed us to serve with Missionary Charlie Vest, and then to start our own church, International Baptist Church, in Dumaguete City (ibcdumaguete.com). It was during our time in the Philippines that God gave us our two beautiful girls, Mackenzie and Lindsey.
In 2014, God called us to work with Pastor Corey Bane at Shenandoah Bible Baptist Church in Martinsburg, WV (sbbcwv.com). My wife and I have worked in various ministries at SBBC. Lacey teaches 4th grade at Martinsburg Christian Academy and I serve as the principal; I’ve also coached the boys’ basketball team and ran HS chapel. Our girls are students at MCA where Mackenzie is in 4th grade and Lindsey is in 2nd.
While serving under Pastor Bane, God began to work in my heart to pastor. I first went to my pastor in 2016 with this desire and calling upon my life.
